1. Tenses. Present tense: simple and continuous.

2. Conditional clauses. Write the sentences in the two missing types before you control your answer.

3. Active and passive. Fill in either the active or passive form of the verbs in brackets.  Mind the tenses.

3.2. He (go) to the boxing match last night. I (tell) him not to go.He (lose) his

fight and (have to take) to hospital.



3.3. - You (get) many steaks in the supermarket last night, I suppose. - No, the steaks I (want / sell

out).



3.4. When the Quirks (arrive) at the border last night, they (check) by the police.



3.5. They (not expect) that their car (check).



3.6. Last year pupils from Swansea and Sleaford schools (invite) to take part in an exchange between the two schools.

First the Sleaford pupils (go) to Swansea, then the Swansea pupils (return) with them to Sleaford.



3.7. Sandy (be) an American citizen. She (live) in the U.S.A. all her life. Her parents

(come) to the States from India before she (be born). But she (teach) all about India by her parents.



3.8. Dear Sheila, I (write) to tell you that I (accept). My visa (arrive) this morning.



3.9. A lot of articles  (write) about famous American cities like L.A. and S.F.



3.10. If a foreign language (speak) in California, it (be) most likely Spanish.
